# Why does burping relieve nausea?

I’ve found sometimes when I’m feeling really nauseous, especially after eating or in a car or something, if i burp i feel better, at least temporarily.  
Is this because burping relieves pressure on the stomach? Or is it that the air in the stomach was what was causing the nausea? Any thoughts?
