# Why does everyone hate Creed?

I just want to make sure it’s clear I didn’t confuse Creed with anyone…just a name mix-up. There’s no more mistaking Creed for Stone Temple Pilots than a chihuahua with a pizza.

I can relate, I like their song “One.”
But then they released it like 6 more times, each time changing the lyrics and name of the song only slightly.
That’s why I hate Creed.

I know exactly why I hate Creed.
When I was a little kid, I used to watch Davey and Goliath every Sunday morning. Claymation and a talking dog, it was all good. One day I wised up and realized it wasn’t just mindless entertainment, it was RELIGION! Those sneaky bastards were trying to mix religion into my entertainment! The nerve! They tried to fool me! If I wanted religion I’d go to church!
Creed is the same thing to me. I liked them until I found out what they were really trying to do.

I actually dislike them for the opposite of the above post. I have no problem with an overtly religious group finding success as mainstream musicians. I have no respect for bands that market their music as ‘Christian Rock’ to certain audiences and then claim they have no idea how that happened (Evanescence I am looking your way). I am not a christian in any meaningful sense, but I am open to religious expression in music.
Christian music need not suck. Listen to the second verse of Suzanne by Leonard Cohen. It is the finest explanation of Jesus’ message I have ever heard in song. In fact Leonard Cohen has made some of the most transcendent music with a religious theme I have ever heard. I don’t believe he is a Christian and I don’t really care. Religious experience can make good music. Creed just isn’t it.
