# Why does Fort Bragg exist?

All I know about all this, is that the key to understanding why any given thing gets the name that it does, is usually to be found in the politics that were at play at the time of the naming.

The actual objective qualities of the person chosen rarely play any part at all. And when you investigate the politics, pay extra attention to details such as who’s votes in Congress had to be bought and paid for, in order to get the thing named at all.
