# Why Does My IP Address Change

I’ve edited Wikipedia without being a member so they shew my IP address. However sometime later when I edit Wikipedia again it seems that my IP address is different. How?

Your IP address is assigned to you by your ISP. Many ISPs assign addresses dynamically, handing out free ones to whoever requests an address at that moment.

If you want a static IP, you can probably get one for a few bucks extra.
