Blueberries and pumpkin spice and pine needles and ‘the rain’ are nice and all but with all the fragrant candles, potpourri, liquids, wax, oils, etc. I have not seen anyone selling something that smells like an outdoor BBQ. The scent of grilled meat on an outdoor BBQ is awesome. That would be an awesome fragrance to buy and light up in the home. Someone tell bed bath and beyond.

Yankee Candles has (or had?) a line of more manly scents like Lawn Mower, Two-by-Four, etc.

IIRC, Lawn Mower was a mix of grass and oily and 2x4 smelled like wood. Don’t recall if they had anything resembling charred meat, though.

The reason the smell is awesome is that it promises you the taste of barbecue. The smell without the taste would be a cruel hoax to your senses.

This is exactly why I don’t go in for any food-scented candles aside from maybe some fruits. Going to make me think there’s brownies when there aren’t any? Nope, nope, nope.

The answer is that only men want that smell and real men don’t buy scented candles.

The other issue is that a lot of scented candles don’t deliver on the promise. One year, a relative bought a “Christmas tree” scented candle. At best, it smelled like a compost pile smoldering in the rain.

On a related tangent, Ladies if you really like a guy, no need to put on the expensive flowery perfumes, just use a drop of Liquid Smoke behind each ear.

Why don’t they make hickory smoke perfume? ☹

You could make your own artisanal BBQ candles, with chicken bones and shit pressed into them. Heck, you could probably sell them at Fleet Farm!

Yeah, a smell with a failed promise is what I thought first as other posters, I expect that many that would enter a home with a candle like that would expect to find a nice meal coming up; and when they find what was really the smell coming from I could expect many to have the same disappointment as when one opens a tin of danish cookies only to find that grandma put her sawing kit inside.

And that would be the reaction for the mildest ones, I fear that a few would think or scream: “You bastard!”

Liquid Smoke behind one ear and vanilla perfume behind the other. Nothing attracts a man like grilled meat and pound cake!

There are a lot of food scented candles though. Aside from the various Fruita are things like sugar cookies, coffee, cupcake, peppermint, cinnamon buns, etc. I’d wager a third of them are food scented. So why no smell of grilled steak and pork chops?

Candles themselves aren’t to effective in making a room smell good for me. Waxes and renuzits are much more effective, a candle only smells good up close.

If they had one that smelled like the grill does right after you light the coals I’d buy it. Ditto one that smelled like leaves burning in the fall. Or even one that smelled like our firepit does when it’s going

While looking around I found this campfire scented candle.

It is a little pricey as far as scented candles go at $10 for 4oz but some of the reviews are good.

I did find one scented like bacon, but still no fragrances like grilled meats being cooked on a BBQ on a spring/summer evening.

I found some bacon scented body spray at an after Christmas sale once, but it didn’t smell like bacon. Very disappointing.
