I agree the license rights is probably the biggest problem.

I have seen an option on prime to change languages. English is usually the only choice. I haven’t checked many films.

I do want to add that the directors commentary for Year One is exceptional. As Harold Ramis’ last film it holds a special place in my mind. Equally the commentary for The Witch (or The VVitch) is wild cause the director (Robert Eggers) does nothing but complain about how terrible the movie is.

Bring back commentaries I say!

> If they did want to offer the additional content it almost would have to be as a separate show you could pick from their menu of available shows. The streaming interface has nothing that corresponds to the content menu of a DVD. Which raises a lot of potential for audience confusion about which additional content goes with which underlying movie, series, or episode.

Most platforms have, once you select a show and go to the list of episodes, a section or tab for “extras” which can include trailers, commentary, post-episode “podcasts”, etc.

Although for extra visibility they will also sometimes make it a whole separate show. There was a Making of Game of Thrones “Documentary” that came out with the final episodes, they have separate “show” with KPOP Demon Hunters bonus content, etc.

I was going to say the same thing. I’ve never seen the whole movie with commentary on a steaming service, but many series come with some “making of”, “blooper reel” and other traditional extras presented as additional items, usually listed after the final episode.

I do miss the commentary audio, though. I frequently watched that.
