Why does the NFL discourage end zone celebrations?

Of course, the crackdown on “celebrations” can be “quite ridiculous” (not NFL, but still ridiculous)

Which, for the majority of the players in that position, is fundamentally their job. Arguing for touchdown celebrations in the majority of the cases is like arguing for professional housepainters gathering on the lawn of their clients’ house for a “finished-painting-the-house” celebration.

Not every successful accomplishment deserves visible celebration. Doing so cheapens those cases which truly deserve it, like the come-from-behind game-winning touchdown.
