> I certainly didn’t take any offense – I was just curious. My ex used to be bugged by it when I did it, too. Kind of a, “It isn’t necessary, so why do you bother?” But I never got anything more specific out of her than that. My attitude was always, “I’ve either got to back in, or back out. I’d rather have the convenience of leaving more easily than arriving more easily.” \<shrug\>

But isn’t it harder to back in than back out? That’s what bugs me about it. Or maybe you are just a better driver than I am. 🙂

It bugs me seeing ladies with ponytails and baseball type caps and they put the ponytail through the opening in the back. I guess it’s related to the death of baseball caps that came in sizes. I miss the old caps, I guess. Other than that, it’s pretty irrational, but it bugs me.

I’ll add a gripe, unpopular as it will be, about the practice of putting a curve in said ball cap bills (that are being worn on the front) just to be chic and conformist when the purpose of the bill is to shade the eyes and the curve detracts from that purpose.

And as for backing into parking spaces, my employer of 9,500+ folks, with a motor fleet over 10,000, requires backing into parking spaces, or pulling thru the first of two empty head-to-end spaces so that you can see as you pull out forward. Backing accidents have been historically by far the largest type of crashes in the organization.

I would dispute this - the curved sides provides additional shading from a lower angle sun (ealier and later in the day) that the flat bill would not provide. Many pro baseball player (the original users of the cap) have done this for decades for this reason.

If you wear a baseball cap with the bill dead flat and cocked at a funky angle, you look like an old farmer. Just sayin’. 🙂

Ooh, this is something that bugs the crap out of me. (Not complaining about you in particular, Shakes)

1. **SANDWICH**. I cannot stand people who think it’s clever or something to make themselves sound retarded.
2. She is attractively lean and looks perfectly healthy. The fact that many Americans are apparently content to become disgustingly fat does not mean that someone who’s skinny is suffering from an eating disorder, or any disorder. So stop with the “oh god, she’s not a disgusting pig like I am; someone force-feed her a Twinkie!” nonsense.

I just saw Peggy Mitchell on Eastenders wearing the scarf through a loop thing, we’re 5 years behind current episodes. So it’s not new.

I don’t get why my 22 year old daughter has turned against her $100 jeans that she just HAD to have last year and has taken to wearing black leggings instead. With boots and over the knee socks. Yes, she is wearing a longish top or sweater, thank God. but it still looks like she, you know, forgot to put on her pants.

Aren’t parkas supposed to come with fur-lined hoods that zip up all the way to your chin, so that you peek out like a gynecologist for polar bears?

Why would you need a scarf? 😃

I am irritated by the scarf loop because it makes the scarf look bulkier and most people don’t have a long enough neck for it to look good. If it keeps them warmer that’s fine but as a fashion look, no.

My friend wore her scarf like that yesterday, it was a short scarf so the ends stuck out about 6 inches. That looked really stupid.

Sticking with fashion, I hate those [skinny](http://www.hipsterwave.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/skinny3.jpg) [pants](http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_5KTfxgyPZjA/SoTFBKo3yUI/AAAAAAAAAv8/Bsz_xCnakF0/s320/skinny+jeans.jpg) both guys and girls wear these days. They look like their legs have atrophied and are withering away.

I always thought that this was a way _women_ tied their scarves, while men used other types of knot (or no knot at all). Then suddenly in 2007 - in London, at any rate - men suddenly started using this loopy thing. I started a thread here on the subject and some male Dopers claimed to have been doing it for years before that. I was not convinced. To me, it came about one autumn when girls started buying scarves for their boyfriends, who had never worn scarves since they were at school, and suggesting how to tie them.

It’s not a good look (I think), especially with a pathetically short scarf.

Nope, I was wearing a scarf like that when I was in the lower 6th/year 12 at school circa 2005. By 2007 [‘afghan’](http://thumbnail.image.rakuten.co.jp/@0_mall/standa/cabinet/handcarry/afgskf-blu_1.jpg) scarfs would have been a bigger thing (though more in autumn). And speaking of London I got my first afghan scarf in Covent Garden.
My next little annoyance (aside from the cutlery thing, that no one’s commented on) would be people who have their Ipod’s full of single songs, in other words people who don’t download the whole album.
This royally fucks me off at times, as I often find myself wanting to listen to a songs off that album that aren’t as popular and the person hasn’t bothered downloading, as they’ve only heard the single or whatever.

Okay, I’ll bite. I hold my fork in my left and my knife in my right (not like a pen though!)because I’m right handed and have better dexterity in my right hand but if I was left handed I would do the opposite. What the heck would be wrong with that?

And why / how / when do you listen to other peoples’ Ipods? Not being snarky; I only ever use mine at the gym and I guess I think of their use as a solitary activity.

I agree that it’s not cool to judge others, fat or skinny, much less diagnose them with an eating disorder, however that is not an attractive picture. Don’t know if it’s cropped funny or whatever but that lady does look unappealingly boney (really just her arm).

It does actually keep me warmer (I use my woolly scarf to keep warm, maverick that I am) because it fills up the space between your chin and chest better, but last week I discovered the flaw - I almost lost my scarf when I undid it because I was getting too hot, and it wasn’t draped properly around my neck.

The short scarves tied like that do look stupid.
