# Why doesn't there exist parties in the primaries?

Arguably the Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) functioned in a capacity like that envisioned in the OP.

Like I said earlier in the thread, it’s not about what’s good for democracy, it’s what are the incentives for individual actors in the system. I’m not claiming the populace will like it, just that they’ll accept it.
