Why don't Chinese restaurants open for breakfast?

Regarding “migas”, you can read about them here:

Note the site name has Texas in it, not Mexico. From my experience, Texans know as much about real Mexican food as New Yorkers know about cattle ranching. TexMex does not equal Mexican food, or anything close.

I am sorry . . . .but . . .maybe in a suburb in Dallas they might not know real Mexican food, but we in the border sure as hell do! Come down to Laredo! Come down to El Paso! Come down to McAllen! Come down to Brownsville! Come down to San Antonio! Outside of Mexico and Los Angeles, the real stuff is here!

Sorry, xicanorex, but I should have noted that there ARE places to get real Mexican food in Texas (I live 45 min. from El Paso and I’ve had great Mexican food there many times, not to mention in San Antonio). I was, in fact, talking about such places as Dallas or Austin. I lived there for a while, and every time I mentioned “real” Mexican food, someone said they knew of a place that was authentic. So of course I agreed to go try it, and everytime it was the same thing. The look was right - small, family owned, cozy. There were actual Mexican servers/hosts. And then, just like always, here comes the pizza sauce in a bowl with a side of Safeway corn chips, and everyone recommends I try the mushroom quesadillas with extra carrot shavings and bell peppers. Authentic indeed!

And this is one reason why I love living in LA.

LOL

I am sorry, I didn’t mean to sound too irked, but you are right on this regard. Nothings irks me more than to go to a supposedly authentic Mexican restaurant in Austin and then get some meal that was concocted by someone who has never eaten or prepared authentic mexican food. I remember eating migas in Austin and getting this pretty funky concoction (which, btw, was still good, but not Mexican) with all different types vegetables and additions. I turned to my friend who had recommended the restaurant “Ya, know, migas is just eggs and tortillas.” My friend blushed.
