Why don't people believe in God?

just pointing it out - you’re debating a ‘God’ concept that

a) is not the subject of the thread (atleast not of the OP as the OP clarified in post 3)

b) already has a definition that is accepted and fairly easy to discuss.

c) is not any more ‘real’ than the others -

Too late to edit - the point of (b) is that its frame of reference - its an 'a ha, thats what he’s talking about ’ for me -

I live in the Aloha state. To me, it means the breath of God or the Holy Spirit. I assume you’re not modding.

Not modding, of course-just curious. Usually when said on the islands it means goodbye or(most often) hello.

Post 3

Simster, I happen to believe in Father, Son and Holy Ghost, the Trinity. I have my own take on how I relate to them, just as you do.

Aloha

I’ve said a number of times now that I am an atheist - I do NOT believe in the “father, son or holy spirit” nor any other “gods”.

Quit pretending that I relate to them in any way shape or form just because YOU believe it.

Your statement is also confusing as to what you really beleive - sounds more like you’re hedging your bets in case you get it wrong. You sound confused.

I’m confused? My post quoted post 3 which you suggested I’d ignored. I’ve not accused you of anything

You know simster, information/education can be found with a couple of clicks on the internet. Wisdom is found within. Education with wisdom is knowledge. Education without wisdom is folly.

Aloha

That’s a truly ridiculous claim. It isn’t correct, and certainly isn’t “obvious”; on the contrary, it’s blatant nonsense.

So’s folly. And it’s found more often within than wisdom, which more commonly is found by critically comparing outside experiences with one’s own biases and expectations.

The intensity of one’s own feelings about a proposition do not reliably correlate with the truth about a proposition.

First off - I said you ‘sound’ confused - not that you ‘were’ confused - there is a difference - it means I’m having a hard time understanding your stance and that you seem to be making it up as you go instead of having a firm grasp on it yourself.

Secodnly - post three - says specifically that the OP is reffering to God as defined in the Christian faith - debating ‘yet another’ concept of god is not addressing the OP - now, you could have said " I don’t believe in that God because i hve my own God to follow’ and that would have - but instead, you seem to want to follow that model and your own - which implies you follow ‘many gods’.

In any event - I’m not the one confused here -

Exactly.

Let me clarify. Favoring one’s own biases and expectations over objective evidence is folly, in my experience.

My 14 year old son says this when I try point out that he’s making a foolish argument. He sounds silly when he does it too.

What do you think of this?

Aloha

Will the congregation please rise?..

Please kneel.

Be seated.

I think posting old off-topic videos without comment is a way to avoid directly answering questions. What in the world does that have to do with the comment you are responding to?

take it further than that - believeing in God is following the sheeple - many have been taught from Birth that a ‘god’ exists - there’s alot of pressure to believe in God.

So much so, that when a person starts to question the ‘organized’ part of it, quite often they redefine it to be this ‘personal/mind’ thing - and then they eventually realize its all a sham. Well, many do.

God is not available to the intellect, He can be found only with love. So you believe He is not in this world then you are right. He is within you. It is necessary to love to find Him within yourself.

I love, yet do not find this god of yours “within” me.

Mother is the name for God in the lips and hearts of little children…

Means just as much - if not more - than the gibberish you just posted.

Also - subistute faith for love and youy have the traditional ‘christian’ statement - and basically another statement of “you don’t have enough x to recieve his/its blessing”
