More than possible – the knocked-up lady downstairs waiting for me to get off of work is living proof.
My wife is pregnant with an egg purchased by a gay couple and fertilized by a mixture of their sperm (obviously, only one of them is the biological father – they just don’t want to which it is [even though it’s going to be pretty obvious once this kid arrives]).
The egg donor received a fee, my wife received a fee, and these guys get a child of their own. Of course, had they needed to, they could have also purchased someone else’s sperm and had a full three-hire cocktail of baby-brewing.
Whoops – first off, I completely misread “embryo” for “egg”. No, you cannot buy an embryo. For that matter, you cannot even “buy” an egg. You’re paying the egg donor for her pain and suffering – basically compensating her for all she has to go through in the process of egg retrieval.
Same with the surrogate – you’re paying her for pain and suffering, not for the baby itself.
I really need to check with my wife before posting on this topic next time…
