Why has my scar suddenly started twinging?

Have you gained or lost weight recently? I also have only a sample size of one, and my surgical scar is only a year old, but as I recovered I lost a lot of weight. When I gained some back recently the scar would do some twinging.

Are you diabetic? Diabetic neuropathy can cause strange things like that. I have an area within my left shin bone that itches occasionally.

I appreciate all the responses. I hate going to the doctor and paying the co-pay. It is a comfort to know others have experience discomfort from old scars.

You really should still have the doctor test it though. Maybe go straight to the dermatologist to save the intermediate co-pay. Any sudden change in a traumatized area shoudl be checked for signs of lesions or abnormal cells.
