In 2019 I was pretty anti-Trump but not full-on Democrat. Not long after, I was turned off of anything Republican. 2020 was when I finally said fuck anything to do with conservatives, I am a liberal now. I was done with them. As time goes on, and it becomes more clear that being a political conservative means being MAGA, you **can’t** express what conservatives believe in without being an asshole. It’s like trying to be one of those white supremacists who doesn’t hate people and isn’t a racist, and wants equality. It doesn’t work. ---

I should add, for the vast majority of my time on the SDMB, I was a conservative, voted Republican a vast majority of the time, etc. And never felt attacked. Almost like it’s not your political stance that’s the issue. Hmm… ---

I’ve noticed that especially with Trump2, debaters are blurring the lines between Republican, conservative and MAGA so that for some that any right-leaning viewpoint gets you labeled a MAGA in all things.
