You do make shit up and pretend it is true. Ask miners who had organizers and families killed when they tried to unionize. The day my father was born, my grandfather missed a union meeting in the church. The goons hired by the mine owners boarded up the doors to the church and killed every man woman and child inside by burning it down. Ask any miner and they will tell you of murders and beatings administered by company goons . You, as always know nothing. ---

Suppose that there was a room wherein a man was locked up 24 hours a day. There is a door to this room and a slot in the door through which his handlers pass him food, supplies, and communications. The man was placed in the room at a very young age, when he was still illiterate. His overseers, however, were able to train him to follow a system. They would pass news articles into the slot of the door. Left inside the room with the man were a computer which only displayed the Free Republic forums. If the man matched symbols on the given news clips with symbols displayed on his computer screen, and carefully scrawled out the forum post on a piece of paper, and slid it back through the door, he would be rewarded with food. In this way the man has gotten very good at the act of writing words down, even though he has no idea what they mean. ---

Ok, I guess I’m not a liberal as I have a job (whew!). But I am not sure I follow this op. So… are we talking about countries like the Soviet Union? (has ‘Union’ right there in the name, see) Stalin was a ‘liberal’? And the country eventually collapsed under the weight of its insufferable liberalism? And today, ‘liberals’ who want things like UHC are actually trying to bring about something like the second coming of Stalin because of their communistic tendencies? Go ahead and make fun of me… but as far as there is a narrative here, am I close? ---

There’s no correlation between these things and the financial theft, excesses, intimidation and brutality of labor unions. For one thing, with the exception of Jim Crow laws which were laws and not private entities, they’re all fairly isolated occurrances, whereas labor unions and their brutality and misdeeds were allowed to spread all throughout the nation. And they have existed and committed their various criminal wrongdoings for many more years and during more so-called enlightened times. Comparing labor unions to any of the things **tomndebb** listed is apples and oranges. ---

I agree, **Ogre**. Back in the day we had trolls who were obsessed about things like SUVs and male circumcision.
