You know, it’s illegal to even joke about killing the President. Why shouldn’t it be illegal to joke about murdering a SC Justice?

I don’t think that it was a joke only for the media, and anyone else can take it seriously.
What she meant by that it that her comments were a joke, and the media should report it as such, and not as a threat or a call to action.
I can’t believe I’m defending Ann Coulter. I need to take a shower.

It looks like Ann has been stealing pages from the Pat Robertson play book. It won’t be too long before she admits that the liberal media used her words out of context.

Not to pick nits on an otherwise perfectly justified rant, but I’m pretty she meant “Media, don’t take this seriously” rather than “Non-media, it’s okay to poison Supreme Court Justices”.

I think you’re parsing her statement wrong. She’s not saying that she intends that only the media take it as a joke. She’s letting the media know that she made a joke because, the implication is, they’ll take it as a serious opinion of hers if she doesn’t.
And I don’t know how bad the crack problem is. How bad is it?

I’m sure you’re right, and that’s probably how she meant it to sound. But she’s no idiot (well, not in THAT sense) and she has to know how people are going to hear it, and consider the possibility that someone, somewhere might take it as “direction”.
Someone that’s already hearing voices in their head no doubt.

If you think there was anything remotely funny about her comment, even though she calls it a “joke”, you may need to use steel wool in that shower. Her comment was about as funny as a dead baby joke, and just as thoroughly distasteful.
Coulter gets ever more bizarre. I think she’s finally gone completely over the top. If this is her idea of political commentary, why is anyone still listening to her?

Other than hearing people talk about her on the internet, I didn’t really know who Ann Coulter was until a few years ago when she appeared on _Real Time with Bill Maher_. He was introducing his panel and before he got to her I was thinking, “Just who is that blonde in the middle?” After he introduced her I said, “Oh, so that’s what she looks like. She’s kinda hot. Why does everyone hate her so?”
Then she started talking.
