Why is Bush afraid to debate Saddam Hussein?

In hindsight, my post was bit over the top. Sorry.

But…

It really irks me when our Commander in Chief refuses, refuses, to sit down and be interviewed or be subjected to a hard-hitting press conference about the most important issue that will impact his presidency.

Granted President Clinton was a liar, but at least he stood there and listened to the questions!

What is George Whiskey Bush afraid of? Just a coward in my book. Same reason he so courageously defended Alabama from the Vietnamese by watching baseball in the officer’s club in the 1960’s. Same reason he ran the opposite direction of the east coast on 9/11 and then had Ari Fleischer lie about it. Same reason…

{…there I go again…}

Oh, give me a f**ing break. As much as I am not a fan of George Bush, Saddam Hussein is an insane dictator. It boggles the mind how people just have no idea what a monster this guy really is. This guy puts more people away EVERY DAY than will ever die in Gulf War II . . . the “crashing in jumbo jets” argument holds no candles to this guy.

When will people wake up? This f##k is the biggest threat to peace and stability since Stalin–oh, one of his heroes, in case you didn’t know–his library is stacked with books about Stalin, one of the worst mass-murderers in history. This is not to mention his insane sons. Does anyone know how many women Uday Hussein has raped and killed? With Dad looking on approvingly? You people: GET A LIFE!! Many, many, many people are dying here NOW, let alone in some war to liberate them. That is what I say to the millions of war protesters: Get a damn brain!

People are so gullible. Hello! Hello?!! MacFly??? This is one bad dude and he needs to be given his bye-bye papers immediately, if not sooner. Your jumping up and down with placards must feel great but it’s not helping Ahmad, who’s busy having his eyes torn out by the secret police.

[nitpicky hijack]
I personally know dozens of people who have dozens, if not hundreds, of books on Stalin. (I even have a few myself.) This does not make them mass murderers; it simply makes them people who are interested in important historical episodes. (Most of them are professional historians or history Ph.D. students.)

A reasonable proposal? Sure, in normal circumstances, talk & diplomacy is the way to go. But here, the debate has already been going on for 12 years and Saddam is still in violation of the multiple UN resolutions. The debate has been already held by UN embassadors. The US and Iraq have also already presented their cases to the public. There would be no new information…just an attempt to confuse and delay.

Here’s how the debate would go…
Bush: You must disarm as the UN has demanded, or we will do it by force.
Saddam: We already disarmed. This is simply a war on Islam and an attempt to take our oil.
Result: Bush gains no ground. Saddam wins more public support.

Anyway, I’m sure Iraq counted on the US not agreeing to a debate. It was an easy thing for them to toss out to make the US look more like the bad guy.
