> But the big question is “Why a duck?”

“You try and cross over there a chicken, and you’ll find out why a duck. It’s deep water, that’s why a duck.”

I’m rather fond of _Duck Soup_, myself. 😉

> I love duck (and goose), … and fricassee every so often…but it’s so goldarn expensive. I’d buy it once a month or so if it weren’t so dear.

“How do you spell fricasseeing?”

“F-R-I-C-A-S-E-E-I-N-G, D-U-C-K” 😃 (no, we’re not letting this hijack go away!)

I have eaten it a few times and I like it but I don’t go out of my way to buy it. It’s not on the menu of the local Chinese restaurant that I go to. Never had it growing up’ I assume Mom thought it was too greasy and Dad was a creature of habit. I was able to convince Mom to cook a goose for Christmas dinner in the early 1980s because of “A Christmas Carol”. She was reluctant but did it and afterwards remarked to Grandma that it wasn’t as greasy as she thought. But my younger sister objected strenuously “why can’t we have turkey like we always do at Christmas?” so that’s what we had. Never cook convince Mom to make lamb chops after a friend’s mother made them for us when I was 8.
