> I think this is one of two huge issues in professional hiring, especially in the tech world. Job postings are essentially asking for so much stuff, that one guy in the entire world may be able to do what they ask, and then the company only wants to pay 50k for it.

And somethings the postings just Don’t. Make. Sense.

There is this one circulating right now, which on one hand asks for someone who’s an expert in the parts of The Big Blue Database that relate to Warehousing and to Quality — first problem: those are two different “streams” (Supply Chain and Operations, respectively), finding someone who’s an actual in-depth expert in modules from two different streams is unlikely. You can find someone who has done two modules from two different streams, but most of them are shit at one and shite at the other.

Second, they’re asking for someone who’s an expert in implementating “the interactions between Quality and Warehouse Management”. Maybe I’m wrong, but… the what de what say what? Maybe in the latest version it does or something, but in my 10 years experience in Operations, Quality doesn’t give a flying fart about Warehouse Management (it cares about a higher level, called Stocks Management). That interaction does not exist.

All that’s missing is a requirement to have 5+ years’ experience in Windows 8…
