# Why is it like this?

How is it that any of you have the ability to joke when a male is molested by a female, when you would most likely call the molestor a monster if the sexes were reversed?
In a recent thread, it was said that a 11 year old male was molested by a 49 year old woman. Plenty of joking ensues.
Does the sex reversal change everything, somehow?
A post, if the sexes were reversed, would read something like this, with only a slight bit of hyperbole:
“That monster? How could he have done it? MY FAITH OF ALL THE GOOD OF HUMANITY HAS COMMITED SUICIDE! I think that fellow should be raped by seven large men, and then to top it out, castrated with a rusty knife!”
I will not cite it, but other than that humanity bit, I’ve seen basically all of those things said in previous threads, perhaps worded slightly different.
Why? I just don’t understand.

Theories…
We can discuss theories all we want, but it’s all the same. No matter how hard they argue against it, it’s the same thing, or otherwise that person is implicating, most likely unknown to them, that we should change the laws regarding molestation, as the situation changes, according to them when it’s a different sex.
And morally, it shouldn’t be any different.

I don’t know why this needed a new thread, but I agree with you. Sex with children is sick and wrong, and there’s no reason to have a double standard where man/girl or man/boy is the worst crime imaginable but woman/boy is, he’s just living out his fantasy. Teen girls have fantasies about older men like movie stars or even school teachers, but that doesn’t make them ripe for exploitation.
Anyway, this was a child, not an adolescent. Stick her in a cell with Jacko and let 'em both rot.

Firstly, I’m a she-wolf, **Lobsang**. I just don’t feel it important enough to correct every time.
Second, **Kurdt** – **Blonde** was trying to give you advice for your own betterment. There was no need to lay on all that abuse, simply because you got upset over the “personal angst” comment. Sadly, while we both to point you in a direction that meant your views would be taken seriously, and you wouldn’t get into a flame-war … I think that idea’s just been torpedoed.

I think you’re letting past hurts get in the way of your judgement here, **Kurdt**. You over-reacted. I can see why – you’ve been involved in some pretty nasty convos here in this forum, and felt the brunt of the ol’ SDMB Train Wreck ™.
The personal angst thing? You’ve done a fair bit of that lately, **Kurdt**. I know that this isn’t part of that. Just try not to over-react with a multi-megaton warhead, when all someone does is tap you on the shoulder.
