Why is it such a disaster if China passes the US to become the leading industrial nation?

I don’t care if the US is #2 (or 3, or 10, or 20), but I’d much rather not have China be #1 in the world. At least not with its current government.

Ditto.

There are also the issues of intellectual property rights and business ethics. I’d rather that the #1 economy in the world be a nation that pays more attention to such things than China currently does.
