For anyone else watching the Tour, you’ve no doubt been subjected to these commercials over and over (in between the 6 other Lance commercials).

This one I understand, he shouldn’t be on Lance’s bike.
Get off my bike.
Is there a back story to this series of commercials? Why is Lance training in an office, and asking Alphonse to take memos?
They’re funny and my mom actually gets them and laughs. That has to count for something.
Lance rode well today.
It’s 'cause Alphonse is an idiot. Alphonse is Costello to Lance’s Abbott; he’s Pinky to Lance’s Brain; Balki to Cousin Larry.
I suppose, but without enough back story Lance looks like an asshole, I find I end up sympathizing with the weird little idiot.
I think Alphonse is Lance’s Admin Assistant. He’s paid to take shit from his boss, and Lance doesn’t disappoint. It’s a symbiotic relationship.

Right. I can’t help but feel they sold it to Lance as “this guy is going to be a duffus making you look good, the classic useless office worker getting in your way.”
Instead, he’s kind of lovable, making Lance look like the big jerky boss.
Hey, that bike in the office probably is custom-fit to Lance’s measurements, so Alphonse should get the hell off.
Lance’s title in those commercials is “Chief Mobility Officer” for Radio Shack, who is sponsoring his team…that’s the office he’s in.
Why is Alphonse wearing a helmet on a bike that’s up on a trainer?
Also why is the glass shelving unit behind the bike labelled “THE SHACK”?
Also, why in the name of sanity is Lance Armstrong reducing himself to shilling for Radio Shack? I know they sponsor his team but…really, Lance? Radio Shack?
It was probably in the sponsorship agreement. Otherwise what’s in it fir the Shack?
