Kalettes are indeed genetically modified. They were not referred to as GMOs. In what way do you feel the linked article was incorrect in stating that this new vegetable was genetically modified?
I am deeply, deeply sorry that you don’t like the Oxford Dictionary definition of horizontal gene transfer. I remain puzzled that your hangups over terminology and desire to play “gotcha” have left you incapable of acknowledging the central issue here - the foolishness of those who claim that genetic modification technology is “artificial” (and hence, scary), while more traditional breeding techniques are perfectly safe and have the blessing of Mother Gaia.
