Lion was an exploit in BIND, which ran on *nix systems.
If I recall, the patch for BIND was out within a day.
Lion by itself didn’t carry a payload. It didn’t trash the *nix box but it did open the box up to Ramen type tool kit for further manual exploits. But it didn’t break stuff like SirCam or other PC virii.
I think it all comes down to the end user (or admin for that matter). If people are online, they are open to the public. The general user doesn’t want to learn anything if they dont HAVE to. I think this is where MS is screwing up. They should make things a little harder so people are better educated and more aware of what’s out there -learn how to USE their software.
I still see that stupid Snow White e-mail stuck in the “deadmail” section of my e-mail server.
That said, I’m more then aware if the virii out there. I lock my windows machines down tight. I use uncommon software so I’m not as prone to these issues. But when SirCam came out I was playing around with it and I infected my own system Whopps. It was gone in a few minutes, but I just thought it was rather funny. I felt pretty stupid.
