# Why is my phone doing this?

Twice this weekend, I’ve woken up from an afternoon nap by this:
1. (upperdeck’s phone)\
2. (upperdeck’s outgoing ans machine message) BLAH, BLAH…
3. (incoming message)“The number you have dialed cannot be completed without an area code. Please hang up and dial again.” --followed by a tone that sounds like a fax machine.
Wait a minute! I didn’t dial any number. I was pleasantly napping. I usually get a message like this on my phone about 2 or 3 times a week.
Of course I’ll call the phone company sooner or later, but does anyone know what’s going on with my phone?

I’m not sure exactly, but I bet it’s something to do with telemarketing calls.
