From the Department of Trivia:
Ohio has cast its electoral votes for the winner in every Presidential election from 1964 on. (It voted for Nixon in 1960.) No other state comes close to this. Nevada voted for the loser (Ford) in 1976 but every winner since, but anyway has only 6 votes to Ohio’s 18.
This trivia item isn’t just a useless factoid; indeed it could be used to help define “swing state.” BTW, there are several Border or Southern states (incl. Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas) that were on a long “winning streak” but broke the streak in 2008 by voting for McCain-Palin.
In November, Ohio will once again be a key (likely the key) battleground state.
