So, is the general idea along the lines of, “As long as you don’t enjoy it”?

“Sain’t Peter don’t call me cuz I can’t go…”
Full marks.
Huh. Anyone else think more highly of Asia Carrera’s acting abilities?

What about Ed Powers, or Ron Jeremy, or Max Hardcore?!?
Jamie Gillis tells a story (or he did at a presentation I attended) about how after the Miller case was decided, everyone was trying to cover themselves by including some art in their porn. Gillis says he did live sex shows where they recited Shakespeare while they shagged.
**Bonus assignment: Find, view, and critique the production values of the classic film Caught From Behind II (which is the film Freeman was arrested for making). I have to say, as far as sequels go, it is better than CFB I, but III-VIII are a class above.
But that’s just my opinion. . . .
[Hijack]This is a great fictional case that shows how far a result-oriented court can twist a statute to get to the desired result. [/Hijack]

IANAL
What I’ve heard–and this is probably as reliable as “She won’t get pregnant if she pees on the ceiling right afterwards”… is that sex for money is not illegal per se (or more trophy wives of aging film producers would be rounded up and jailed). Most jurisdictions have a statute against common prostitution. A common prostitute is someone who will have sexual relations with pretty much anyone who can pony up the money. Escorts and “kept” women are exempt from this; escorts only have sex with a select client list (although “select” is a relative term") and a kept woman has a select client list of one.
As I understand the porn industry, most actresses have a pretty rigid list of what they will or will not do, and of whom they will or will not do it with. This comes pretty short of common prostitution.
Check the statutes of any state, most of them are available online
You will find few references to “common prostitution” or anything like that. Escorts get arrested and convicted all the time. Even if they pee on the ceiling.
