In one of his travel series for the BBC (probably _Pole to Pole_), Michael Palin, in the former Rhodesia, explains a little bit about Cecil Rhodes. I’ve always wondered if this was a deliberate reference back to the question he’d asked over 20 years earlier. And in _Great Circle_ he went to a lumberjack competition in British Columbia. ---

I’m distantly related to the other Cecil. One of my great-great-grandmothers was a Rhodes – yes, one of _those_ Rhodes… ---
