# Why is Roethlisberger apologizing for the lawsuit?

Why wouldn’t rape be a tort that you could sue the rapist for? It seems to me that the only reason why rapists aren’t sued more often is that most don’t have assets worth suing for.

He means if it were a real rape there would be criminal charges. There’s no reason you can’t or shouldn’t bring a civil suit _after_ the criminal trial, though, like with OJ.

She’s offered the spurious, but kind of plausible explanation that she was afraid of losing her job for filing a criminal complaint as Big Ben was one of the casino’s high rollers.

Must have been one hell of a job.
