Okay, let’s just assume that half of you read the thread title and scoffed “Psha! She’s not pretty, she’s ugly!” That’s kind of my point. Thanks to my wife’s Sex and the City addiction, I see SJP on almost a nightly basis, and I’m struck by how she seems to be very pretty, even though her individual features are - um - kind of _not_. I recently dubbed her the Prettiest Ugly Woman alive, with Drew Barrymore in second place. So, can somebody quantify this for me? Why is she attractive? I’ve got her hot bod on the checklist; what else? ---

When I was but a wee lass, Sarah Jessica Parker was hosting Saturday Night Live. I think it was around when **Honeymoon in Vegas** was released, so I was around ten. Me: Wow. She’s really ugly. (15 years later, Family Guy would provide an even better description: Her face is shaped like a foot.) Dad: Yeah, but she’s got an ass you can bounce a quarter off of. Every time I see her, I remember that exchange. It explains so much. ---

It’s partly her attitude. She exudes confidence and high self-esteem. That’s not to say she’s arrogant or conceited, but she’s made the best of what nature gave her. She has a lovely smile and her eyes are enticing. Great hair too, and she can wear anything. I hardly ever laughed at her outfits on Sex and the City. ---

IMO she’d be really pretty if she didn’t smoke. Her prematurely leathery skin and lips turns me off to her. And her voice. I cannot tolerate that voice. ---

My wife’s 16 year old niece looks amazingly like her and has a similar, vibrant personality. I wouldn’t normally call SJP beautiful but I have personally seen a near simulation on the street based on this and she certainly isn’t ugly compared to the grass grazers all about that have managed to fuck themselves up so badly in one way or another that it is unwatchable and unrecoverable. I just chalk it up to a projected sense of decency, optimism, and a rather innocent look. ---

Her features can be a touch severe, but she does have a brilliant smile and beautifully expressive eyes. ---

Maxim magazine voted her “unsexiest woman alive.” (Everybody talks about the October poll but I can’t find it even on the Maxim site.) She does have a very oddly proportioned face that looks its best at fleeting moments when she’s animated. At rest, it ranges from heavily made up fashionable to outright homely. What then is her true look? Animated may be truer because that’s how she appears on screen and in real life. She sure does photograph badly, though. ---

The first time I saw her was on a tv movie where she was an abusive parent (anyone recall the title for me?). She has beautiful eyes. At least she does not look like a blow up sex toy, like some I could mention. ---

People need to get off it, already. She’s not the most attractive person in Hollywood by a long shot - meaning, she isn’t conventionally pretty. She’s not ugly though. She’s like most people - she has some great features but not everything is perfect. She would look better if she stopped smoking, though. She’s not the ugliest celebrity - that title goes to Paris Hilton. ---

I like SJP a lot. Sex and the City was a lot of fun and she seems to be a genuinely nice, interesting, creative person. Is she pretty? She’s one of those people I go back and forth on. I think she has good looks and bad looks. I love her for her good lucks, still love her through the bad, and they are pretty bad sometimes. Great body, beautiful eyes and hair, and a cute personality (on SATC and LA Story - bouncy). I do think her looks varied during the seasons, with her looks best I think around season 2-3 when she wore her hair long, blond and straight, which emphasised her eyes. ---

Other than the hot bod, she has beautiful eyes and hair. Also, style/flair/whathaveyou. I heard she quit smoking around the time she got pregnant but I agree that the damage is already done. ---

bbblaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh, her eye and hair might be cute but her damn facial features and the structure of her jaw are just masculine any way you look at it. sorry to rain on the parade. I would not think about her one way or the other if her gorgon-like visage were not plastered all over every print magazine on the damn planet as if she was aphrodite incarnate. ---

[/QUOTE] I’m way too lazy to go looking for the list, but I recall, when it was published, a friend of mind pointing out that every woman who made the “unsexy” list was, uncoincidentally, not remotely reliant on appealing to the Maxim demographic for their livelihood.
