O.k., another question entered my mind Everyone has something they like, but they grow tired of it after a while. Sex is the only thing I can think of that every post-adulesant wants all the time and never gets tired of. Any ideas? ---

The question you appear to be phrasing is not “Why is sex so appealing” because you do not find sex appealing. You are wondering why other people (specifically, your husband) find it appealing. If I could pose a question, what about sex do you find unappealing? ---

Sex is not the _only_ thing that I want all the time and never get tired of. I can eat a really big meal, but in a few hours I’ll still be hungry again. Air is even worse–I’m a total air junkie. Actually, sleep is the one that bugs me the most. Doesn’t matter how good a night’s sleep I got yesterday, my darned body just keeps on insisting that I go to sleep at regular intervals. Sex I can understand, from an evolutionary point of view, and a general knowledge of biochemistry gives me at least a vague idea of why I need food and air, but that sleep one is kinda tricky. ---

There’s a lot of learned perceptions of societal norms and mores that influence any one individual’s response to a large degree, but endorphins (and the other “natural opiate” whose name I can’t quite recall right now - enkaphalon{sp)?) I’m sure remain central to our behavior with regard towards sex having an appeal. ---

ME, there’s actually a very good reason for sleep; the brain uses it to process and sort all the information it absorbed during the day, and to form and reorganize associations with existing memories. it’s writing from your mental RAM to your hard drive, and defragging in the process. you see, your mind uses so much information that it’s immense resources are rather limited, and it has a tendency to crash if it isn’t kept in prime condition. or, at about hour 160 your mind collapses and, through a chain reaction, causes your brain stem to stop functioning. this makes you die in an unpleasant fashion. of course, you probably had a psychotic episode long before you got to hour 160, and so your mind is probably not in the best of states by this point… ---

The extremely high density of nerve endings in your genitals guarantees that sex will continue to be appealing for years to come (as it were). As mentioned before, it’s a splendid way to make sure more humans get made (so to speak). Plus, without it, there sure woulddn’t be very many funny jokes. ---
