Bob Stoops and Mack Brown would prefer the conference championship is decided on the grass in the Cotton Bowl in October, and not in some game against a north-division also-ran in December. Don’t look for any teams to be joining the Big 12[sub]8[/sub] anytime soon. ---

Big Ten country by all accounts is “the Heartland” and almost exactly exactly overlays the Midwest by most popular notions. Regional rivalries are core to the success of the Big Ten, SEC and Big 12 South and is something that the schools on the coasts really lack. ---

Oklahoma State booster T. Boone Pickens has some interesting things to say [here](http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/the_sporting_blog/entry/view/68949/thankfully,_someone_put_t._boone_pickens_on_camera_to_talk_about_big_12_school_movement), including telling Missouri to shut up about shopping for another conference, and a bit of derision for TCU as a potential new member. ---
