This is really such a mundane and pointless question it should go in MPSIMS, but since it’s about the boards I must put it here. All of the other Game Room threads that were games being played by SDMB members, got moved to the Thread Games forum. But the Death Pool thread is still in the Game Room forum. What’s different about the Death Pool thread that it didn’t get moved? It’s just another game being played by the SDMB. I’m not complaining, mind you… I just don’t get it. ---

Okay, so…I was wondering if and when this question would come up. When moving threads to the Thread Games forum, I waffled on if the Deathpool should be included. I mean, it IS a user made game that people participate in, but then again, it’s not an active playing thread. So I finally came to the decision that it was more of a “monitoring” thread. A thread to keep track of stuff, rather than actively playing (with each post). The posters aren’t doing that, they’re participating in choices already made long ago. In that essence, I wouldn’t say it was a Thread Game any more than I’d think a Fantasy Football league thread would go in Thread Games (because they sort of have the same system). But, really, it’s no biggie. If enough people think and question why the Deathpool isn’t in that forum, I have no problem moving it there. ---

As a participant in the thread I had a brief conversation with \*\*Idle Thoughts \*\* at the time of the move. I came to the same conclusion he did. It is really a hybrid thread that could fit in several places. For the first month (December) it is about playing the game and making the lists. (Thread Games) For the rest of the year it is just monitoring without any active play. (Game Room) Many of the posts are announcements of notable deaths that are not important enough to have their own threads even though no one picked that person. If you want to be informed of notable deaths this is the thread for it. (MPSIMS/CS). Many of the posts are mildly bad taste jokes or awful puns. (MPSIMS) In my opinion as a poster and not a mod of that forum, it works just fine where it is. ---

One of the major considerations in giving thread games their own forum is that they were bumped so frequently that they tended to dominate the Game Room forum. The Death Pool isn’t bumped all that frequently so this isn’t an issue with it. ---

In the [Forum Changes Coming](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=747405) thread, I suggested that the Death Pool be moved to either Cafe Society or MPSIMS. Since it’s celebrity-oriented, I favor the former. ---
