I was looking for new TV shows to try and have heard good things about Farscape, but everywhere I look, the season one boxed set is insanely priced compared to other shows. It doesn’t even have a lot of special features. What makes it worth 2-3 times what the other science fiction shows are going for? ---

WAG, but maybe because there are fewer fans and because **Farscape** fans are unusually devoted? ---

Don’t have a good answer for you, other than the producers going for the highest price the market will bear. The “Starburst Edition” of the show began rolling out a few months ago, this package is a better value and has a few extras. Now they do this. I was DYING for commentary, and these sound AWESOME. Dammit. I guess I’ll be spending some more money. E. ---

Oh, and just a word of warning - the first few episodes do move a bit slow as they get character development and storylines set up - but I promise, if you’re anything like everyone else I’ve known who watches it, by Episode Six, you’ll be hooked. I went back to rewatch the early episodes after seeing the entire series this year, and really enjoyed them a lot more. E. ---

**Farscape** was one of the first shows released on DVD, back when it was still new and following the VHS model–2 episodes per DVD, few features, each sold seperately. Full-season sets didn’t come along until **Farscape** had already committed, and it took even longer for them to break down and tape up all the individual DVDs into a package. According to **Murcielago** ’s link, they’re doing it again, so maybe they’re just nuts. Me, I’ll pay $40-50 on a whim for a show I’ve never seen before, but I can’t commit to **Farscape** , a beautiful, fantastic show.
