ok, so he jumped on Oprah’s couch, so what??? Haven’t others experienced that level of extreme happiness??? I have… though I didn’t jump on a couch, but certainly jumped up and down, and even danced afterwards! 🆒 Anyway, I think all the bashing is silly and bordering on meanness… maybe high-profile celebs aren’t suppose to display their true feelings… I thought it was kind of sweet and goofy at the same time, but NOT worthy of Dave Letterman’s inferences about it. side bar: I can’t stand Dave Letterman. ---

A lot of people believe the Cruise/Holmes “romance” to be a publicity stunt since both have big expensive movies coming out this summer. As for Letterman, he ain’t the only one who’s had a field day with Cruise’s “display of affection”. ---

Beyond even the skepticism, he is a grown man. Grown men do not behave that way no matter how in love they are. If a friend of mine came running into my living room and jumped on my couch professing love for a woman, he’d get a swift punch in the gut. And he’d thank me for the reality check. ---

Tom Cruise deserves all the bashing he gets. - Because he is a brainless himbo. - Because he has dead eyes. - Because he’s a very average actor who inexplicably makes millions. - Because he is a pusher of Scientology. I’m willing to apologise for the first three being my personal opinion, but that last one is a clincher. ---

Wasn’t he head over heels in love with Nicole Kidman? And didn’t he go on TV, etc., making a big deal out of it? And aren’t we all sick of him? I guess I just don’t believe him. ---

I’m just incredibly embarassed for him. There’s a complete lack of dignity in the way he’s spouting off about his love affair. Ms. Holmes is pushing the gag-o-meter pretty well herself. My prediction is that the backlash from this is not going to do either of their careers any favors in the long run. Remember the unholy union known as “Bennifer”? ---

After all, two Dopers (one of them Eve) say so, and that’s good enough for me. And like nearly all A-list actors and actresses, he’s incredibly focused on getting to the top and staying at the top, and there’s plenty of people who want to latch onto him and take what they can get. That means that they’ll act in ways that we wouldn’t, but have to (case in point: the Smoking Gun Web site released copies of non-disclosure agreements employees had to sign if they wanted to work for Tom Cruise. It’s incredibly detailed and full of potential fines and penalties if any story leaks out about him. Weird to us, but not to anyone living inside the Hollywood fishbowl.) That said, this series of stunts with KH simply reeks of phoniness: the endless series of photos of them sucking face on the red carpet, the endless interviews, the Oprah appearance.
