# Why is USMC ahead of USN in the DOD order of precedence?

Jeez, I’d forgotten all about AAFES until this thread popped back up. They have some good prices on laptops, I see, and not paying sales tax is a big plus.

I need a laptop. I should check them out.
About USCG, my right hand man in the Marines joined the USCG Auxiliary and he loves it. His wife joined it too and they serve together. He keeps telling me that I’d love it too. But as of now I have no thoughts of joining them.

At least USCG comes ahead of the Public Health Service and NOAA. Congrats on a good and satisfying career in a noble calling!
Although I originally read “navigation officer of a buoy tender” as “navigation officer of a lightship” and figured that navigating one of those would be especially low-stress duty since the darn things ~~are~~ were permanently anchored to the seafloor. 🤪
