# Why is yahoo comments full of right wingers

There seems to be a political bias there. Is there some reason for that? It seems up to 90% of the comments have one political slant sometimes.

As an experienced yahoo commenter, the pattern is this … when liberals like Obama are in power, conservative comments rise to the top. I remember when bush was in power, it was liberal comments that rose to the top. Also troll comments get a lot of attention so there are a ton of people who say over the top conservative stuff just to get a rise out of people.

My own experience is just that it’s a place populated by either older people or those not really well-acquainted with the Internet. And those tend to lean conservative. And to be more easily trolled.

Yahoo! is just seens as “the old Internet” by a lot of people, so they don’t go near it. That creates a culture in the comments.

What’s interesting is that this means Yahoo posts a lot of liberal stuff, since there’s nothing their viewers want more than to be able to run to the comments and complain about liberals.

I don’t think Cardboard is wrong, BTW. But it’s been seven years, and perceptions of the site have changed. Yahoo! was still semi-respectable back when Bush was in power.
