The reason most of these unpleasant wackjobs will give is that while people weren’t the first people on this piece of land, they were the people who made it _America_, so it’s rightfully theirs. It’s not the actual land they’re claiming, it’s the civilization that happens to be located here. ---

I’d be genuinely curious whether there are significant examples of colonisers actually working primarily for the betterment of local populace and not as vampires. I know in Ireland that some plantation owners worked to create industry and education within their purviews but was any colonial project ever explicitly (and actually) for the betterment of the natives? ETA: I suppose missionaries might count. ---

As far as I know the same laws of politics, economics, and orbital mechanics apply to africa, south america, asia, the middle east, the far east, and even those lazy european bastards. ---

And for that matter the romantic notions of peaceful Indians and their idyllic life is probably a bunch of baloney for that matter. ---

Ah, so the descendents of the “lucky” 1% or so of survivors get to use some toys in a society that largely hates them. I’m sure the millions of dead and those who spent the intervening centuries in grinding poverty would have considered that worth dying for. EDIT: And you do realize that you are agreeing with the claim that you and all your relatives are subhuman? That they could never have traded for modern technology much less invented their own, but only but conquest and genocide could they have ever possibly gotten central heating or air conditioning. ---
