# Why isn't my computer recognizing my USB ports?

My phone syncs with my computer and recently I installed a new digital camera. Now, my USB ports aren’t recognized when anything is plugged in.

Any ideas? Where do I go in windows for these settings?

Had the same thing [happen](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=329704) to me–turned out that my power supply was defective and caused my motherboard to get fried.

Some helpful hints from that linked thread–hopefully you have better luck than I did.
