For the past couple weeks or so, there’s been a Ford Focus ad banner on the main page (which leads to a lot of neat stuff, so I’d encourage people to click through. Yes, this means you). Since I think a lot of people here bypass the main page, shouldn’t this also be up on the message board? If it’s a bogging-the-server-down issue, why not just on the main board page? ---

I would guess it’s because the Reader doesn’t sell advertising to the SDMB **or** because Ford doesn’t wish to advertise here. ---

The Altoid banners were on the message board IIRC. So the Reader has sold advertising space here, and not just on the Straight Dope Homepage. Those are the only ads on the message board that I can remember. ---

I don’t know why the Ford ad doesn’t run on the SDMB, but apparently it just runs on the front page. All the ad banners have been removed from the subsidiary pages – there’s no banners at all on them, not even the usual Chicago Reader ones. your humble TubaDiva Administrator ---

I miss the altoid ads. I was a devoted clicker,
