> IIRC from sunday school, Jesus is NOT to be revered “as God,” but rather as one aspect of the divine godhead. God, not JC, was the principal focus of worship (even if one can supposedly worship God only through JC.)

Jesus isn’t one aspect of ‘the divine godhead’: Jesus **is** God, just as the Father **is** God and the Holy Spirit **is** God. The three of them form the Holy Trinity. Don’t ask me to be more specific: it’s one of the Mysteries. And, as you know, a Mystery, by definition, cannot be explained:D.

If David B. ever made some of his cracks about the Jewish religion, I would give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he does not like any relgions. Some of my best friends are atheists and despise all religions and religous thought. David B. does not like Christians and uses this forum to spread his prejudices. I thought this was against the rules. Sorry for my extreme sensitivity to hypocrisy.

In fact, praying to anyone or anything other than God is strictly forbidden. Catholics do have the option of asking saints to put in a good word for them but they praise only God and they make requests only of God.

\*\*

OK. But asking the saints to put in a good word for you is, in effect, praying to the saints, is it not?

\*\*

OK. But, at _some_ level, He is three, is He not? In Judaism, that is not possible.

\*\*

OK. But, IIRC, in most Christian sects, even if a man lead a perfect life, he’s still got the original sin to deal with, and that would send him to Hell. Jesus, IIRC, is supposed to be the only way to cleanse onself of that. If so, then, in effect, the Christian Messiah _does_ save one from sin and Hell.

Wrong. Jews believe that we are all sons and daughters of God.

Well, yes, **Leah Channah**. Let me re-phrase then:

"Judaism dismisses the very idea of a _literal_ Son of God.

I do want to point out that out that even some of the leading Jews were willing to keep an open mind. Gamaliel, the grandson of Hillel, said- Acts5:34\> “And there stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the Law, had in reputation amoung all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a litle space: And he said unto them, Ye men of Isreal, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men… (38) And now I say unto you, refrain from these men, and let them alone; for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: But if it be of G-d, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye to be found even to fight aginst G-d”. Showing that his grandfathers wisdom, and perhaps even a touch of prophesy, remained.

Note that the deliniation of who can be the Messiah is not so black & white as some would have you think- as Hillel was considered by many Jews to be the Messiah.

And, in my Church- the original Covenant with the Jews as His chosen people remains in effect- except there is a New Covenant for others. The OT Covenant is only for the Jews, as I beleive they agree.

And, zev, I will point out that “Y” did change His mind a few times, note the various locations of the Temple, prior to the right one, and the rules for sacrificing there.

Sons and daughters in a blood way, or a spiritual way?

\*\*

Hillel ??? Sorry, **Daniel** , but I think you’re wrong on that one. Perhaps you’re thinking of Bar Kochba (Bar Koziva)? Even so, when he died, everyone who thought he _might_ have been the messiah dropped the idea.

So, **Daniel** , your church doesn’t teach that Jesus redeemed the Jews from “the curse of the law?”

The Temple was only located in one place. There were several temporary places where the portable Sanctuary stood (Shiloh, Giv’on, etc.), but both Temples only stood in one place.

If this question made sense, I would move it to Great Debates. As it is, it seems intended as a troll, and regardless of intentions, it’s getting very ugly. Watch it, **Uniball**.
