Why July to me? (Mini rants)

it is a tough decision. it is good that he came to you for your comforting touch. i hope all goes as well as it can today.

Thank you all. By the time I went to get him this morning, it was obvious that it really was time. He let me pick him up and put him in the carrier without a fight. He slept and purred the whole way there and was gone quickly. Without intervention, he might have been gone on his own by the end of the day.

I’m glad he was somewhere safe and not alone behind a dumpster. I think he knew he was loved. I’m glad he trusted me enough to come to me for help. He didn’t seem frightened at the end, although it’s hard to say for sure. I hope he wasn’t.

it is good that that you were able to help him “go gently into the good night”.

peace to both of you.

Two years ago, we had to do the right thing to our little girl, she couldn’t make it cross country during our move. It was one of the hardest of our fur babies…but our responsibility. Hugs

Aww, {{hugs}}

Aww, I’m sorry. I think you did right by him. I was there last year with my old man cat. His kidneys were failing again and I had made the appointment at the vet’s. His last day was a good day, almost to the point I was questioning my decision. But after he was gone the vet checked him over and said he couldn’t feel his kidneys at all, they were that atrophied. So I knew I made the right choice.

Breast biopsy tomorrow…joy… the small mass is close to the lymph node, wee bit concerned.

The Sunday before last when I was getting ready for bed I started feeling a pain just below my breastbone. It was still bothering me on Tuesday, so I set up a video appointment with my doctor for Wednesday morning. Based on my lack of other symptoms (nausea, intestinal troubles, etc) he decided that it was most likely just a pulled muscle, and recommended applying a lidocaine patch to the affected area. By Friday the pain had pretty much gone away.

Then Saturday morning my left shoulder started hurting. Badly. I could barely move without screaming in pain. I treated it with a heating pad and had a neighbor who does physical therapy work on it. After continuing to apply the heating pad several times a day, the pain finally subsided on Wednesday.

Last night when I was going to bed I started having pain in my middle right abdomen. It got to the point where I couldn’t sleep, so I called 911 and went to the ER. Blood tests, an ultrasound, and eventually a CT scan showed no gall bladder, kidney, liver, or intestinal cause for the pain, and finally the doctor ascribed it to some sort of musculoskeletal disorder and I was sent home with orders to use lidocaine patches and Aleve, and follow up with my doctor if it persisted.

I’m starting to wonder if the thin person under all my fat is trying to escape.

Ack. Chest pain and then pain in the left shoulder and/or arm would scare the crap out of me; that could be a heart attack. I’m glad your tests seemed to rule that out, although that won’t make it hurt any less.

After my heart issues of a few years ago I had started getting paranoid about any pain between my navel and my neck, until I realized that unless my heart had started migrating I didn’t necessarily need to worry if the pain was south of my rib cage. I did have a moment when I was wondering if the most recent pain was appendicitis, until I remembered from my old anatomy classes that the appendix is below my navel, which this pain was definitely not. The doc and I did have a laugh when I mentioned this, and he asked if I had consulted “Dr Google”.

Anecdote time: DesertRoomie used to be a a Vet Tech and an owner brought in a half-dozen dogs, all healthy, well-conformed examples of their breed. She wanted them put down because she was getting out of the breed and wanted to be sure they didn’t “wind up in a bad home.” DR wound up having to do it because the doc was too chicken shit and needless to say, the bitch of an owner wasn’t around when they were killed.

There was absolutely no reason fro this. Most breeds out there have an organization of fanciers who can place dogs of owners who will not or cannot tale care of them. Salukis for example, it’s STOLA. The incident is one of the reasons why DR is no longer a Vet Tech.

So I write a blog post considering the possibility that I might be wrong about the things I assert most often and loudly.

And someone responds to it by attacking me for those very assertions.

LurkMeister: Welcome to my reality. Every day is a new challenge. I also blame my “thin person.”

Late to the rant but. I am 64 and still have my mom’s sewing kit containing fabric shears that have never seen anything but fabric. Mom had a sixth sense and knew from rooms away that her shears were about to slice into paper. She also knew when one of the boys was going to use the paring knife as a screwdriver.

Why is Piers Morgan speaking for the US? Leave Simone Biles alone and go back to critising the Royal family.

My parents to go with my brother to Italy about 10 years ago, (I had just bought a car and was too broke to go) so they had to get passports. My dad had no problem getting his birth certificate even though he was born in the front bedroom of their house in 1931. My mom on the other hand was born in 1934 in a farmhouse and never had a birth certificate. They told her that she could get school records, church records, or an affidavit from someone who could affirm where she was born. the School records had burned, the church records had been consolidated with another church that had stored all of the records in boxes out in a barn somewhere in no particular order. All of her older relatives, parents, aunts and uncles etc. were deceased. They did find one of her parents friends who was still living but not doing well who didn’t want to travel to have the affidavit witnessed. They finally had my mothers brother who was 11 years old when she was born do the affidavit saying she was born at home. I don’t know what she would have done if that didn’t suffice. Not everyone has access to prove where they were born.
This came up because I applied for another passport (mine is expired AND lost) and needed to know where they were born, I was surprised that my mom told me it was the county seat of the next county over. She said at the time the mailing address was Rural Route County seat. So that was the best they could figure. I am still waiting on my passport. (only been a month)

My mom had never seen her birth certificate until she needed it to get a passport. Turns out, her birth date was a few days from what she had always thought. It seems that back when she was born in 1913, the doctor would make the rounds of all the births, then when he got around to it, he’d submit them all at the same time. So there were clusters of babies with the same official birth date.
