Was the “your” directed at me? I’ll answer assuming that it was, even though it’s possible it was directed at scotandrsn
First, bombing backyard pools would do nothing to solve the problem of swimming pool deaths, so that’s not really what I’d call “focusing on the solution.” I assume that was meant as a joke, though.
My point is this: what can I do about terrorism? NOTHING. So I won’t worry about it. Hopefully the government will do things like protect our harbors and analyze intelligence, and I’ll try to elect people I think will do such things, but I refuse to worry about terrorism. There’s nothing I can do about it, and chances of it affecting me are extraordinarily slim. If I ever have a child, I’ll make sure they have swimming lessons, to avoid those backyard pool catastrophes (and to keep anyone having to bomb my back yard), but I won’t warn them to look out for terrorists. The only affect that would have would be to make them worry. And if anyone tells them to buy duct tape to avoid biological and chemical attacks, I’ll point out that duct tape is useful for many things, but watching the news for a warning about the moment when you should tape up your windows is just silly.
