# Why prohibit mentioning ignore list?

For one, it was long time before I realized it even existed; I imagine others still don’t.

Secondly while I suppose it would lead to a lot of huffy "fine, I’ll ignore you"s, it might also enable the community to mitigate some predictable and annoying posts: the possibility of universal “you said you were going to ignore him, now do it” shoutdowns might eventually lead to kinder, gentler discourse.

We found it was just something else some chose to use as a weapon against others.

By banning all mention of it, we took that weapon away. The only other option was to remove the function. Think we made the better choice?

Use it or not, that’s your privilege. But keep it to yourself.
