Last year there were half a dozen or more. This year we have compilation Christmas albums from RuPaul and Pentatonix. Cher has a new one out (her _Santa Baby_ is very good), and Brandy has one coming out on November 10th. Has streaming services and the changing music market put the kibosh on new albums for the holidays? ---

That’s my take. Do we really need any more Christmas albums? Unless someone is writing original Christmas songs (see the “Love The Holidays” album\* by **Old 97s** as an example) I’d say all the old standards have been done to death. \* One of the songs from the album was featured in last year’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special” ---

I’m pretty sure I have every Christmas song I’ll need for the rest of my life. (no it’s not zero, smarty pants! 🙂 ) To me, all these new songs are just, well, wrong! We have good and proper Christmas songs. Anything new is just money grabbing. ---

There are bound to be some late stragglers, but this is normally the season for releasing Christmas albums.
