I have a snappy computer and DSL. Why does it take so long to load? Perhaps it my generation or a sign of the times but if I have to wait too long, I just move along. Is is just me? Hi Coco.!! ---

It’s not just you. I have DSL as well, and have to waut for a few minutes sometimes. I think it greatly depends on how many users are on the Board at one time, because my speed seems to increase later at night. ---

The servers…errrrr…hamsters get really overworked sometimes. It’s pretty hip, happening place and lot of people are trying to use it at once. The slowdowns don’t usually last very long, so if you check back after a few minutes or so, it should be fine. You may have to wait, but hey, we’re worth it! ---

I visit SDMB from work, where I have a T1 line, and at home, where I have a dinky little modem. SDMB is often much slower at work. Never to get to the home page, which takes maybe 1/10 seconds, but to get to the message board or to open a posting. These can take 5 minutes. It’s never happened at home. But I visit at similar times, e.g. 6:17 PM here in Eastern USA. ---

What **Shagnasty** said. It’s been so good after the last major upgrade that I haven’t had a slow loading day since. The hamsters seem to be on steroids now. The effect might wear off anytime soon… ---

If it’s slower at work, that’s probably because of the time of day. We’re busiest during U. S. daytime hours, so that’s when the boards are slowest.
