# Why the antipathy toward coconut?

If I ever save anyone’s life and they want to repay me, they can make Alton Brown’s [coconut cake](http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/coconut-cake-with-7-minute-frosting-recipe/index.html). It looks so delicious but it’s too much of an ordeal for me to bother making myself. But it looks _so delicious._

I voted ‘Meh’, if only because I make one exception for coconuts. I usually find the stuff disgusting, and I’m especially not fond of the texture, but I love coconut-flavoured popsicles. Delicious, and I don’t have to worry about anyone else taking them; everyone else seems to agree they’re revolting.

Agreed. When I first heard of coconut shrimp (sometime in the 80s) I thought, “No way, no how, will this abomination ever pass my lips.” I figured it for a food fad that would quickly die out once people came to their senses.

Twenty-some years later, and I was still seing it on menus, so I figured maybe there was something there that I was missing out on, and gave it a try.

Abominable abomination; I was getting nauseous after only a few of them. I took them home anyway to feed to the cat, but he took one sniff of them and gave me a “You gotta be fugging kidding me!” look, and left them where they lay.

Furry little bastard gave me dirty looks for a week for that stunt.

Also agreed with the pineapple on pizza thing, but I’ll generally just pick the pieces off and eat a ham-and-cheese pizza.
