# Why the hatred for furries? (aka: Can't we all just get along?)

It’s not widespread hatred. It’s one drunk dickhead talking shit fourteen years ago.

The furry community got a bit of a… [reputation in its early days](http://unpromisedone.blogspot.com/2012/11/meet-dennis-quozl-falk-man-who-got-tiny.html) for being the worst, most abusive type of socially inept assholes. Of course, this probably doesn’t reflect on most furries, even the ones for whom it’s a fetish, but the “deviant” sections are really visible and seem to have little shame about having their weirdness out in the open. It’s guilt by association, which isn’t necessarily fair, but there ya go.

To expand on the above: there’s probably no way to be certain of how prevalent it is. Such a topic would make for an interesting psychology study.
