Being one of the original members here, I put in my mod application a couple of years before I was accepted. When **Tuba** e-mailed me and told me that my time had come, I [del]felt like I was marching to the executioner’s scaffold[/del] jumped for joy. Why I wanted to be a mod? I’m not the most prolific poster on these boards, in fact, when I was named a Mod, the general consensus among the Teeming Millions was, “Who the hell is **Rico**?” I think I’ve gotten over that by now, however. I had never been Pitted before I became a Mod, now I can count at least 5 times I’ve been the subject of a Pit thread. I was the original poster of thread #8 on this board, my user number is below 250, and my wife **cadolphin** and I have hosted two LA Dopefests. I usually end up spending 2-3 hours a day on average here. The average Doper is one of the smartest people I’ve ever known and I’m proud to be a part of this group. ---

I used to play “junior mod” by IMing **tubadiva** when I spotted a troll live or some board malfunction. Since I spent most evenings on the board(and still do), I ran into a few. At some point Jenny suggested that I fill out an application for Moderator. Maybe that was her way of getting rid of me 🙂 but I did it. They tell you when you fill out the application that they’ve chosen mods in as short a period of time as a week and sometimes not for a year or more after application. I was sure that I’d be accepted within weeks. Wrong. Well over a year. I, also, told the PTB that I was only qualified to moderate GQ. I spend most evenings from 7-12 EST on here. Some nights later. I spend all day and evening Sunday. I spend much of my day off(Friday). I have no real life. But my virtual one is a blast. Damn bunch of smart people on here. ---

I have moved the misplaced post **Revenant Threshold** was responding to to its correct thread (chicken and the egg, in CoSR), in the hopes that the resultant rip in the space-time continuum will make me a movie star. ---

Well, it’s certainly made me look insane. 😉 I too would like to say thanks to the mods. I haven’t been here for too long, and a poster even less then that, but (while there are a few bumps in the road) the mods are pretty fair, and there’s a couple (whom I won’t mention by name) who have my respect for doing a good job and keeping their head cool “under fire”. ---

I eventually stepped down, because it was approaching time for the Comprehensive Exams, and I wasn’t able to put in the time commitment needed any more. On the one occasion that you smacked my hand, it was done not even so much as a smackdown as it was a reminder of what constituted acceptable behavior in GD.
