What actually increases the post count number? As I look to replys to threads going on here, I see that my post count remains the same. ---

Your post count is stored in a single spot with some other information, such as your sig line. It’s only stored once, as opposed to in every post you’ve made. Therefore, when your post count is incremented (or you change your sig), the change is reflected in every one of your posts, seemingly retroactively. Was that your question? ---

Post count to me, since I lost my _entire_ post count in the Hacking Weasels™ episode, has several different meanings.[ul] [li]The poster actually has something relevant to add to a lot of discussions.[/li][li]The poster loves to jump into threads and add something somewhat relevant but inane (mea culpa)[/li][li]The poster loves to participate in silly hijacks (again, mea culpa)[/li][li]The poster views a high count somewhat like picking a large and interestingly shaped booger: not necessarily something you want to show off, but if others see it and wonder, the picker does have bragging rights (what I aspire to).[/li][/ul] ---
